I guess this qualifies as a placeholder. Peg and I slept in this morning at the condo after being up way too late Monday night/Tuesday morning. So far I've packed in a tax class and a bunch of housekeeping with regard to firm stuff and our own taxes. Now defending a deposition with this view just outside.

There are certainly worse places to spend billable time. You have to love the leaves just starting to turn on the eastern shore of the lake.
But this deposition is a root canal. I really hate construction defect litigation, which is a shame because I sure do a lot of it. At the same time, I'm starting to tell people "no" when new construction cases come through the door, and trying to make room to build an estate, business planning, and tax practice. It feels a little early--most folks continue their miserable vocational existences longer than six decades and a bit, but I'm not actually retiring; rather, I'm building something better and more manageable as Peg winds down so we can share some of that free time without deadlines looming and my phone exploding with clients in crisis.
Back to work. The witness is doing fine, so there's no panic mixed in with the boredom.
