"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive."

-Robert Louis Stevenson

A lot less snow out there after an afternoon high yesterday in the mid-40s. More heat coming today. It's not optimum for the whole winter wonderland schtick that kept us up here this deep into the December calendar.

So we'll leave sooner than planned after Peg's boss gave her the grace of the 23rd off from work, not to return until the 29th. We were looking at trying to get out of here on Christmas Eve, with a good chance of mixed precip (read "ice") to complicate the flight. This weekend's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and highs around 40. Much less dodgy.

It's nice to have something to think about besides the national nightmare of the last thirteen months. This week Dear Leader unveiled plaques he'd personally written and placed below the portraits of prior presidents, mostly filled with invective and lies directed to Biden and Obama because that's the person you all elected.

Biden's portrait is an autopen, because you gotta own the libtards.

Shame on all of you who voted for this. Just shame on you.

And the adderall driven machine gun blast of BS that was his speech last night. I only saw highlights, but it dripped with desperation mixed with insanity mixed with cranky old man wanting you kids to know just how good you have it.

Way to go, Republicans. Thanks for creating this crisis.

But overall my mood is better today, although my inability to stay asleep at night and spending a chunk of the two-to-four a.m. block worrying about Everything is starting to really take its toll. Blood pressure is through the roof, and I've taken on a ruddy red appearance as a result. Not great.

What's better today? I'm viewing this trip to Florida as sort of a mini-vacation to end the year. The weather is forecast to be perfect the entire week, we'll get to relax on the farm and see people we've grown to love over the years. I'll likely play a little golf. This year has been overwhelming at so many levels. If we do this trip the right way, maybe we'll get to simply abide for a while, which is probably just the medicine we need right now.
