Monday Meh

The biggest thrill wasn't in winning on Sunday but in meeting the payroll on Monday.
It's not even nine a.m. at home in Florida and the rising tide of yuck has already started.
A client calling because a settlement agreement that should have been signed two months ago still hasn't been, due to the intransigence of the other side. What are you going to do about this, counselor? I could sue them, but the same client doesn't want to spend money on a lawsuit.
I'm scheduled to argue a motion in a few minutes via Zoom, and see the filings are messed up. Probably not the end of the world, but a reminder of how things were before I became my own legal assistant. And that's another client who emails every few days complaining about the pace of the case. The lawyer on the other side responds to nothing, but this morning he's blowing up my phone wanting to talk about this hearing. Screw him.
Still another would-be client insisted on talking over the weekend about his claim for $3 million in crypto winnings--the only catch is that the "broker" insists he send $500.00 to fund the transfer. All of the names in the email threads are folks who are big enough crypto players that I can find them on Wikipedia and LinkedIn. Their emails are in pidgin English, however, and their "tranfer agreement" is just so much gibberish speckled with legalese the author clearly doesn't understand. They're not who they purport to be.
Welcome to my world.
Can I go back and re-live the Alison Krauss concert at the outdoor venue in Canandaigua last Saturday night?

The production values were simply amazing--this band's been on the road for two decades, and the setlist and musicianship were nearly perfect. I smile a little thinking of the paunchy insurance salesman from Waterloo sitting next to me and singing along with misty eyes to "Now That I've Found You". Just a great night.
But now here we are again. Time to boil the old mouthpiece and get back in there.
