You say, "Goodbye" and I say, "Hello, hello, hello"
I don't know why you say, "Goodbye", I say, "Hello, hello, hello"
I don't know why you say, "Goodbye", I say, "Hello, hello, hello"
I don't know why you say, "Goodbye", I say, "Hello, hello, hello"
Hello-ooh!
-Paul McCartney
An elegaic feel to the morning. Tomorrow will be the last time we awaken to this view.

Four months and one week. Where did the time go?
Adding to the sense of endings and transitions, we stayed up late (for us) to watch the final episode of the Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night. Colbert's gotten to be like an old friend to us over the last decade, and saying goodbye after his tech bro MAGA boss cancelled the show felt especially poignant, coinciding with this moment P and I are experiencing. The show ended with Sir Paul leading a celebrity chorus in a rousing version of "Hello Goodbye", before he pulled the power on the Ed Sullivan Theater and Colbert disappeared through a worm hole into a little music box version of the stage, with the theme song playing as the box revolved.
I have to admit, I got a little misty. It's been that kind of week.
Time to work a little, take that trip to MoMA we've planned and cancelled a couple times already, and then settle in for our last evening in the Lower East Side. The next entry on this blog will likely be from Panama City, which has its charms I guess.
But I'm still grieving a bit, and will count this sojourn with P as the best time of our lives.
